Awareness Raising Activities:
SPC believes that “Information is Power”. In this regard SPC celebrates national and international days with others to disseminate information among the masses. SPC has been implementing awareness raising activities on good governance tools including the Citizen’s Charter, National Integrity Strategy, Grievance Redress System, and Right to Information Act-2009 with the assistance of the P4D (Platforms for Dialogue) project.
Awareness raising about rights:
In this context, Social Projection Committee (SPC) operates campaigns and holds discussion meetings with community members about the use of the Citizen’s Charter, a charter that outlines all available public services at public offices. Strengthening the capacity of civil society to participate in government decision making systems and establishing social justice from the grassroots level is helping hold public officials accountable in our community. SPC has also arranged some discussion meetings, rallies, affixed posters and stickers at public places in Ramchandrapur Union of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila, Gaibandha district.
Holding Society accountable:
SPC works to familiarize community members with digital social accountability tools such as the Grievance Redress System. For this, SPC members and volunteers teach locals about the use and benefits of www.grs.gov.bd .
Relief and rehabilitation activities:
As a volunteer organization, SPC always responds to social and natural disaster. SPC provides blanket to those affected by the cold, gives money to the poor for medical treatment, supports marginalized individuals receive public services from government offices.
Quality development activities in Education:
SPC works to improve the quality of education and has opened a library on its premises. SPC also distributes Khata and pens etc. among vulnerable students. Lastly, SPC arranges quizzes and gives prizes to the participators to inspire quality education
Work for Social Integrity:
To create an inclusive society, Social Projection Committee (SPC) works with elders in the community as well and hosts activities to increase empathy between the youth and senior citizens.
Health and Environmental activities:
SPC works on environmental issues and runs awareness raising campaigns to inform citizens about their responsibilities to mitigate climate change. Recently, SPC has planted fruit saplings in the community to maintain a balanced ecosystem.
Income generating activities:
SPC motivates community members to invest in local resources and build partnerships among local entrepreneurs. These activities include leasing ponds and low-elevation land to cultivate fish as well as supporting farmers with loans so they can rear hybrid calves.
